Monday, July 14th : Breakfast

So much for keeping this thing concise...

S woke up and was off to a full day of meetings, so it's my first day on my own. I have been sitting outside, having my coffee, watching as everyone heads off to work, streaming patiently and efficiently out of the subway stop in our building, the Nihonbashi Mitsui building. Mitsui is one of the large Japanese conglomerates and Nihonbashi is the neighborhood. Everyone is calm and quiet- no one is shouting into their cell phones or even looking grumpy!

When I came down to the lobby this morning, there was a nice bellhop waiting for me, offering his assistance to "Mrs. Haselwandter". I think the staff on the 38th floor lobby- the actual hotel lobby, as opposed to the ground floor lobby of the Mandarin- must have alerted him as he was standing right by the elevator door to usher me out. They're very on top of their game at this hotel! He's been very sweet and it turns out he has lived in LA for four years, where he undoubtedly perfected his English.

Lastly, they are changing the windows at Mitsukoshi today and I am so glad that I got the picture of the watermelon fabrics and kimono when I did! And I look forward to the latest display.

I thought I might make it to Harajuku today, but already it is mid-afternoon and so instead I think I'll revisit Ginza and walk a bit more- on Saturday, we were so hungry that our main focus was finding Tenichi Deux.

Only one picture today, it's from Saturday but so funny. Maybe I will try one tomorrow!
